I can't lie, I love a bit (a lot) of vintage. Red lipstick, powder puffs, hair rollers and pin-up girls. Put on some wartime music and you've got yourself a vintage knees up. Another thing I love is girl's nights in. Face masks, painting each other's toe nails, eating chocolate and gossiping about the latest revelations of the newest 'he said, she said' drama. Now what could be better than a vintage inspired pamper night in - girls only? The idea appeals to the glamour puss in me. I'd love to plan a night of silky dressing gowns, pink champagne and forties charm for a bunch of friends. That's one for the 'To Do' list.

The Anti-Valentine

Like many of you, I will be spending my Valentines Day with a large box of Hotel Chocolat delicacies, listening to nostalgic music. However, the chocolates will be bought by Me for Me and I'll be wallowing in the eerie sounds of Lana del Rey.
Valentines Day is by far one of the worst days for singletons like me and the run up is even more painful! Everything is decorated in pink, red and black - I can't even pick up my favourite fash mag without being reminded about how very single I am (tragic, I know) but, not to worry, my pretties! This year, I've vowed to take Valentines Day in my stride. Single girls can celebrate too. Count this as a reminder that there's more to life and being a woman than having a very messy, slightly smelly other half to molly coddle for a day.
I'll be rocking V-day in this season's canary yellow. If I'm going to celebrate my independence on the day of hearts, I'm going to do it with a bang. Yellow is so the new pink.

Tantalizingly Tribal

I'm ready to go tribal! In the thick of winter, I can't help but dream of somewhere exotic and tropical - luscious plant life everywhere and clear blue springs bubbling at the mouth of waterfalls. Sprawled out on the sofa in a Dalmatian print onesie, I yearn for the summer sun and a stroll down a white sand beach. Tribal is the trend for summer and River Island is leading the fash pack. Love her already! She's almost as cool as her sisters, has a love for classic tailoring and kooky pieces. She's also bagged herself the March cover of ASOS Magazine. I know, I know - say no more. I read a magazine article about an opportunity to work at a big fashion house for 2 weeks which immediately sent my head into a spin - daydreaming about glossy headquarters, cappuccinos with the boss and champagne breakfasts - think 'The Devil Wears Prada'. I've got to be honest, the fashion flame was wavering and I've spent most, if not all, of my time in either my work uniform or pyjamas (I know...don't even). The sun is shining (slightly), my glittery boots are dying to be worn and I'm in the mood for having a wander around Oxford Street. The thing I love the most about the Oxford Street stores is their fantastic visual displays (and, of course, the better stock). Sometimes, I just want to go down there to ogle Topshop's mannequins and Selfridges' window displays. How exciting! As may be obvious to those who have read my previous posts, I am a Jeffrey Campbell addict (no, seriously - Jeff, if you happen to bump into me on a street corner, I suggest you run) and just the thought of the Lita boot makes my pulse race. I have the standard black ones and have made plans to buy every other colour and pattern that exists but, at £120 and more each, they're really quite expensive. Don't get me wrong, as a slave to fashion, I'd happily spend my life savings on a perfect pair of Louboutins or a Hérve Léger dress but, when I discovered the £40.99 Lita-a-likes at Missguided, I hyperventilated a little bit (no joke). Being the magpie that I am, I chose the gold glittery ones but I plan to buy the brown ones and the leopard print ones too, as well as these ankle boots, which remind me of Christian Louboutins. Yum.

Its probably my vintage pieces that I've collected over the years and my Converses as far as I remember. I always clear out my closet so finding the oldest thing is pretty hard.

What is the most cherished thing in your closet?
I think it will have to be my leather jacket, I can't live without leather. My studded one is like my baby, I'd feel so lost without it.

I love the fact that you know how to clash prints and colours without ever going wrong. What is your favourite colour (fashion wise)?
Any pastel, it gives a sense of innocence but yet adds something to the works.

Now that we're on the topic of colour, your hair changes colour and style a lot, do you see it as an accessory or just a reflection of your mood/self?
I see it as an accessory but it also reflects on my mood. I get bored easily so thats the reason I change my hair colour alot. If I go through a grunge phrase I would have it jet black or if I'm inspired by like fairytales at the time I'd change it to green or red. I just love experimenting with my hair.

Ok, so maybe I was lying, we all make mistakes sometimes. What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
Letting my mum dress me as a child. I mean, I love the woman but some of her stuff is just not me. Thats how my sister is now, 'cause shes gotten used to my mums 'style' she doesnt even let me dress her. Im just waiting for the moment when she can be more open minded.

I hear you, girl! Socks and sandals seemed to be a favourite of Mum's at the best of times - will never forgive you for that, by the way! What is your biggest pet hate when it comes to fashion?
When people wear too many trends in one, like, before you leave the house, you should always take off one item.

Last two questions, promise! What/who is your favourite brand/designer?
Marc Jacobs has always been one of my favourite designers since I was little. Zac Posen, AMBUSH, Henry Holland.

Winter Wonderland

Anyone else depressed about the fact that the British Winter is finally setting in? It's supposed to snow by Friday - there's no going back. Just a couple of months ago, I was excitedly browsing with a friend, trying on faux fur headbands and hoping for snow. Just last night I was decked out with an adult-sized baby grow and a cosy, tartan blanket, damning the weather for giving me a groggy throat and frost bitten toes. If there's anything Winter's good for, it's an excuse to cover everything in fur (faux of course) and to buy 2 or 3 (meaning 5 or 6) amazing new coats that you just have to buy because you 'don't even have any others!' Although I've banned myself from buying any more coats, a girl can never have too many hats, scarves and gloves and my £1, cotton, turquoise finger warmers aren't really sitting pretty with me. Donatella Versace would never be caught dead in cotton, 2 for 1 gloves, so, why should I? The fact that I'm not rich nor am I Italian or an über cool fashion designer probably factor in but I think I could do better.

The "Yes" Man

Today, I set off to Soho for a quintessentially British afternoon of cucumber sandwiches and crumpets with my Nana. Destination: Soho's Secret Tea Room. I thought I'd channel a little granny chic with tartan, lace, a tapestry handbag (not pictured) and a cossack hat. Here's what I wore:

Walking down Greek Street in the brisk cold, I have to say it was not the easiest task finding the tea room. The Coach & Horses pub itself (which it is situated above) didn't have a very big sign and, despite the claims that it's famous, was very easy to miss/was unknown to the other shops around it. Once in, we had to go behind the bar and up a very narrow and windy staircase. The tea room itself had a shabby chic feel to it's decor, furnished with incongruous chairs, lacy tablecloths and 1930s bric-a-brac. It had a really vibrant and friendly atmosphere, which made up for the fact that we were told upon entering that there was a "table for two" but we wouldn't be served for at least half an hour due to the fact that they were behind on their orders. The waitress was very friendly despite all of her stress and, once our order had been taken, she got our food out fast. I must admit, the scones were to die for and the cucumber sandwiches, although thin on cucumber, were a nice bit of savoury amongst the mix of cakes and clotted cream. For £14.50, I don't quite think the 'Traditional Afternoon Tea' quite lived up to it's fee but, for a bit of a novelty treat every now and then, I thought it was fantastic. I would definitely go back there again but not any time soon as I think I will be waddling off this food baby for a couple months now.

I've been dying for a visit to a traditional British Tea Room for well over 3 months now but haven't seemed to find one that checks all the boxes. They're all either too expensive, not traditional enough or just generally too posh for my taste. I'm looking for something with jam, crumpets and cupcakes to die for, the atmosphere of Brick Lane on a bustling Saturday and the prices of...well, Asda. Cue Soho's Secret Tea Room. I just read a review for it online and with a '30s theme and cakes starting from £2, I think I'm in love. So, I'm taking my Nana down there with me tomorrow for a spot of crumpets and herbal tea. Very. Excited. If I haven't devoured the whole patisserie by the end of the day I'll be: Very. Surprised.

Who said Primark wasn't chic? Despite my heavy following of the discount department store in my broke and scruffy sixth form years, I had started to despair at the bomb-site-esque piles of clothing that'll only unravel within 2 hours of bringing them home. Then, as if it were fate, I got an email whilst waiting for the train (rather unhappily mind you) - the preview of Primark's spring collection. Florals, granny cardigans and crisp tailoring. Hello, Primark. This bag was one of my favourites, forget the Mulberry Bayswater, I'll have this:

I'll be bagging myself this floral cocktail dress and snakeskin pumps - could be straight off the 'Ready to Wear' catwalk.

Ever since I missed out on buying a single item (*solemn silence* I know) from the Versace for H&M line in late 2011, I have been quaking in my Lita boots - got them for Christmas (!!!) - at the thought of losing my place in the ranks of die hard fashionistas working bold prints and studs. Well, it looks like Donatella herself has rocked the boat and, in fact, caused a tsunami while she was at it. Prints are everywhere! Not only prints but, drumroll, please, printed separates. Now, if that's not enough to make your heart race and the late legends of fashion turn in their graves, I don't know what is. I couldn't resist this shirt and trouser combo when it came in the Friday delivery at work. Despite banning myself from spending any money on clothes, I walked out of the doors with yet another shopping bag in my hand and a grin to rival the Cheshire Cat's fixed to my face. Confessions of a Clothes Shark

I learned two things about myself today: the first is that I truly live and breathe fashion (more so than I had realized before), the other is that I have a desperate affinity for spending. Honestly, it's like a shark attracted to blood in the water *breaks into a shady rendition of 'Blood in the Water' from Legally Blonde: The Musical*. Seriously though, the feeling of swishing my card through the reader and purchasing some wonderful new item that, at the time, feels like I just cannot live without - it's to die for. I feel a surge of adrenaline-charged joy dance within me, my toes wiggle jubilantly in my cottons and my fingers groove wildly in my pockets, waiting to clasps themselves tightly around the shopping bad handles. Sad? I know, but, truthfully, I just cannot bring myself to stop. I only ever spend on fashion anyway, so who can really blame me?! I think I sit somewhere neatly between 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' and 'Bridget Jones', throw in a smidgen of 'Pretty Woman' (I mean the cheesy soundtrack not the hunky man and the awkward job position) and you're just about there.

Tie Dye Hair

So, it seems that the fashion world has been taken by storm by dip-dye fever and everyone who consider themselves to have any fashion credentials whatsoever are colouring the tips of their hair. Although I'm not one to rush for the bandwagon, I've fallen in love with the gutsy hair style and may have to jump on the stuffy, overcrowded Trend Train (couldn't sound more appealing). With an array of tantalizing tips to choose from, I feel like a very awkward kid in a candy shop, wide eyed and very likely to unpredictably burst into a mad sprint for the brightest colour I see. Herein lies the problem. Green hair is great for lazing about in floral hair garlands and carelessly hip swinging to 'Mumford & Sons' at a festival in summer but, picture this: Cocktails with the girls, to die for LBD with some fatal, spiked Louboutins and a swanky bar in Mayfair. Now picture this: green hair. Awkward. Not that there's anything wrong with green hair, the daring fashionista within me is roaring to dye a rainbow array of colours into my hair and pair it with a studded leather jacket a la Gaga, but it doesn't exactly scream effortless chic. So, decisions, decisions! Where do I start?

OMBRE HAIR - for the glamazons and style goddesses of the world. Great with leather look leggings and stilettos. Not so great with skirt suits and a 9 to 5 work schedule. If you sit behind a desk all day, you should probably stray away from this look. I highly doubt your boss will appreciate your daring tresses (even if the fashion world will). 8/10

It's 9:30 am. Work starts at 9:00 am and it's a 10 minute commute to get there. I'm puffy-eyed and have just about managed to brush my teeth, wash my face and pull on my work jumper (back to front). Bird's nest? Underestimate. Furry mess somewhat resembling the jungle men circa the Cave Man era? Somewhat closer than before. To anyone reading this, it may seem like a good idea to crawl under some overturned rock or possibly attempt hiding in the back of my closet with a paper 'bag of shame' over my head. Feeling like the creature that I have somehow transformed into overnight, retreating speedily back to the warmth of my yellow, floral granny covers seems like a half decent idea. However, work, salary, responsiblity...blah blah blah. My solution is none other than the top knot. Timeless, chic and just scruffy enough to say 'nonchalance' rather than 'slapdash'. So, backwards jumper? Check. Puffa fish peepers? Check. Super suave, en vogue, just the right amount of scuzzy hair style? Of course, check. Who could ask for more?

I'm Naomi, a gap year student, building a life for myself in London.

I love brown toast and green tea, red nails, car boot sales, vintage markets, charity shops, fur coats, warehouse conversion flats and long-haired miniature doggies. I'd love to do a degree in fashion journalism and get into fashion styling as well. I currently work at River Island and am really enjoying my time working in the fashion industry.

My taste in music runs in phases (and often influences the way I dress) but right now I'm really into grime, dance and dubstep. Nevertheless, I can't get me enough of some Adele and Ed Sheeran lovin'. 'U.N.I' is a tune!

I dream of one day living in one of the pastel houses on Portobello Road or one of the big, white townhouses in Chelsea with a bulldog called Humphrey.
